Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

 

I am Mrs. Jennifer Paredes, proud principal at Van Wig Elementary, home of the Wildcats. I am starting my fourth year as principal at Van Wig and I am excited for the new school year! 

Van Wig Elementary staff are dedicated educators who's mission is to foster the love of learning in our scholars and create balanced academic and social emotional opportunities to aide them in reaching their full potential and help them become life-long learners. We support the academic and social emotional needs of our scholars by providing interventions during the school day to ensure all scholars meet their goals. We focus on providing a safe and welcoming learning environment, working with families to increase daily attendance, and providing engaging and rigorous learning in each and every classroom that will prepare our scholars for middle school and beyond.

We are a No Excuses University school. At Van Wig, we believe in educating the whole child and focus on Social Emotional Learning  and promoting a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). 

We also provide many enriching opportunities for our students, like music class, film club, puppetry, GATE afterschool enrichment and various community events to support our Van Wig scholars.

 

It is my privilege to serve our Van Wig scholars and I look forward to working alongside you, the families, to create an exciting learning experience for all of our scholars.
